Race Review: Russell wins at Vegas while Verstappen secures fourth world title in a row! 

George Russell wins at Las Vegas while Max Verstappen secures his fourth world championship in a row! 

As the lights went out Russell kept his lead as Charles Leclerc made a dive down the inside of Pierre Gasly before he had gone around the outside of Carlos Sainz to make the claim of P2! 

Lap 4  

Max Verstappen was desperate to make up places after a disappointing qualifying as he breezed past Gasly to take P4 while Leclerc and Russell further up had a battle for P1. Russell pushed back to defend his lead as he raced on to leave Leclerc in P2. 

Lap 7 

Lap 7 saw the first of the Ferrari’s driver battle as Sainz and Leclerc had their own battle as Sainz seen the better part of the battle to take P2 from his teammate.

Lap 10 

Oscar Piastri was given a five second time penalty due to a false start as the lights had gone out. It didn’t affect Verstappen or Sainz however as Verstappen in his desperation to make places had made a dive around the outside of Sainz to settle into P2. 

Lap 16 

Gasly after having an amazing qualifying session where he had claimed P3 had his luck dry out as he was faced with engine issues before he had to sadly retire out of the race. 

Lap 27 

Lap 27 saw drama as Alex Albon was forced to retire with engine issues himself adding onto Williams’ hard weekend. 

On the same lap, Sainz and Leclerc were given the order to swap positions in the middle of Sainz’s desperation to pit with his demands not being met before he got a call into the pits.

Sainz headed to the pits before a late call to stay out as he overshot the pit lane entry being let off with no penalty. 

Lap 29 

Sainz had finally got his demands answered being called into the pits for a tyre change with Sainz making his complaints heard over the radio: 

“What happened?” 

“We were not ready.” 

“Wake up guys! Come on!” 

Lap 33 

Lewis Hamilton had his race set as he overtook Verstappen for P3 before his future Ferrari teammate Leclerc had pitted to claim P2. 

Leclerc returned to the track with disappointment as he was overtaken by Sainz once more. 

Lap 38 

Sergio Perez showed off his skills in the Red Bull as he made a double overtake on Liam Lawson and Kevin Magnussen as he took P12. 

Lap 50 

Lap 50 came with excitement and celebrations around track as Russell crossed the finish line to take his third ever career win followed by Hamilton in second and Sainz in third. 

Verstappen crossed the line at P5 ahead of Lando Norris to secure his Fourth world title with Red Bull as celebrations roared around the Red Bull garage.
